New South wales

New South Wales has vibrant young cities, and is home to some of the best drives you will find any where in Australia. You will find tropical rain forests, magnificent beaches, the amazing Sydney Harbour, the vineyards of the Hunter Valley, the breath taking Blue Mountains, the southern plateaus rising to the high ski country of the Snowy Mountains, an assortment of mining towns, or simply take a drive out to the rich farming areas of the Riverina and the rolling sheep and cattle pastures of the west.

Sydney (capital)

Sydney is Australia's most iconic city with the breathtaking harbour and the opera house. It 's capital city of New South Wales and great place to start for a road tour. It has an excellent climate, and also provides an exceptional range of business and recreational accommodation throughout the central city and surrounding areas.

Sydney has every thing to offer from water sports being very popular. Swimming, surfing, sailing, boating, cruising, windsurfing, diving and jet skiing. Many major sporting and music events, so be sure to check whats on.

Surrounding areas

The areas surrounding of Sydney are fantastic way to drive out and see some of Australia's earliest history and some wonderful natural attractions. Or you may choose to drive to the north and find the lovely waterways of Pittwater and Broken Bay where the Hawkesbury River reaches the ocean. The roads to the west and north-west are home to some of the small and relaxing towns.

Blue Mountains

The magnificent Blue Mountains, approximately one hour drive north of Sydney. Just follow Bells Line of Road and take in the majestic scenery on one of the most exciting drives in Australia. Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands have fantastic guest houses which are very popular with Sydney residents seeking the relaxation of a week-end break.

Your journey along the Bells Line of Road will be treat you to Fantastic views out towards the coast and across the amazing bushland scenery. There are also many walking tracks with various levels of difficulty. As you ascend from the Blue mountains you can enjoy spectacular views across the Sydney region. More fabulous views can be seen from Bell bird Hill Lookout. If you travel off Bells Line of Road onto Heritage Road and Mountain View Close you should be able to hear Bell birds singing and take in the clean crisp air.

The Great Dividing Range

Runs north to south about 100km inland. A fantastic place to trek along with its larger cities and major towns all along the coastal belt. Further west are the dry grassland plains which gradually come into the great Australian out back.

Coastal

New South Wales is dotted with excellent beaches that are very popular holiday destinations. The roads that take you there are in great condition and it is lovely scenic drive with plenty of Beach resorts and self contained holiday in fact all types of accommodation.

Drive tours

If you are looking to drive to Melbourne, you can take the Princes Highway or the more direct inland route through the southern part of the state is the Hume Highway. The Mitchell Highway which is the more scenic which winds along the north-western regions of New South Wales and the Sturt Highway is a major route through the south west. Overall the state is well served by a comprehensive network of major arterial and linking roads.
